Elk Grove resident wins 2016 Camaro at raffle

On July 17, Dean Jalovec, a lifelong Elk Grove Village resident, was the lucky winner of the 60th Anniversary Car Raffle.

Following the Foreigner Concert, held on the village's 60th anniversary, each of the six car raffle semifinalists was called up on stage to receive a $600 check and the chance to select the correct key to win a 2016 Chevy Camaro.

Dean Jalovec, the last of the six semifinalists, picked the lucky key and started the car to the cheers of more than 20,000 people. Jalovec will drive away from the Castle Chevrolet on Arlington Heights Road in a brand new 2016 Chevy Camaro of his choosing.

The 60th Anniversary Car Raffle raised tens of thousands of dollars, which will be split among the following community organizations: A Caring Place Community Respite Care Program, Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove, Elk Grove Youth Committee, Lions Club of Elk Grove Village, Lioness Club of Elk Grove Village, Rotary Club of Elk Grove Village and the Sheila Ray Center Advisory Council.

"I am very excited to be able to raise so much money for our local civic organizations," said Mayor Craig Johnson, "And I'm thankful to Castle Chevrolet, whose generous donation created this opportunity to give back to the community."

The raffle would not have been possible without the generosity of Castle Chevrolet, which donated the Camaro in honor of the village's 60th anniversary, and the dedication of the Elk Grove Rotary Club, whose members ran the raffle.
