2-Part Lecture Series Explores Media Influence During Events and Presidential Campaigns
Wheaton College Professor Dr. Read Schuchardt will explore the Larycia Hawkins event and the Trump presidential election campaign during a two-part lecture series that focuses on how the media influences our understanding of the world. The lectures are sponsored by the Windsor Park Center for Lifelong Learning and scheduled for Tuesday, Aug 9 and Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Windsor Park, a faith-based, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located at 124 Windsor Park Dr., Carol Stream.

Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m.
Disembodied Solidarity: Larycia Hawkins as a Media Event
The first lecture will focus on Larycia Hawkins, the Wheaton College professor who wore a hijab as an act of solidarity with Muslims and claimed that Muslims and Christians worship the same God.
Thursday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m.
The Donald Method: How Trump Uses the Media to Reverse-Engineer the Election
Schuchardt will explore how the Republican nominee for President has captivated the media during this election cycle in an unprecedented way.
Schuchardt is an associate professor of communication at Wheaton College.
The lecture series is sponsored by the Windsor Park Center for Lifelong Learning, which presents opportunities for continuing growth and enrichment through education, including the creative and performing arts. Three resident-run task forces initiate and plan upcoming events and other opportunities for residents. Many events are open to the public.
