Kaneland superintendent might get 5 percent raise

The Kaneland school board will vote Monday whether to give a 5.3 percent pay raise to Superintendent Todd Leden.

The raise would take his salary to $184,419, according to a memo in the board's packet for the meeting.

Leden's current base pay is $175,000 a year.

Two contract amendments are proposed: One would eliminate mileage reimbursement, and the other would reduce vacation days from 25 to 22. Kaneland reimburses employees 54 cents per mile.

The board hired Leden in December 2014, and he started the job full-time in July 2014. Previously, he was principal of Fenton High School in Bensenville. His contract expires June 30, 2018.

The board meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Kaneland Harter Middle School, 1501 Esker Drive, Sugar Grove.

In addition to the superintendent's pay, the board will discuss what to do about the Kane County sheriff's decision not to station a deputy at Kaneland High School in the fall. Sheriff Don Kramer has said he can't afford to provide school resource officers to the two high schools in his jurisdiction. The other is Burlington Central.
