Unoccupied car rolls into Mount Prospect pond

Crews pulled an unoccupied gray Mazda from a Mount Prospect retention pond near the intersection of Wall Street and Elmhurst Road Friday morning.

The owner of the Mazda parked the car in a lot near the pond. After he went inside one of the nearby buildings, the car rolled from the parking space, over the curb and into the pond, said Mount Prospect Fire Chief Brian Lambel.

The Mount Prospect Fire Department and Mount Prospect Police Department responded to the scene around 8:15 a.m.
