Aurora police seeking information on two shootings

Aurora police are seeking help from the public after two separate shootings Wednesday that did not strike any of the intended victims.

The first shooting happened just before 1 p.m. Wednesday on the 1000 block of Century Lane, police said in a Facebook post. Witnesses told police two men were seen running from the area after one of the suspects fired several shots toward the west as they both stood on Century Lane.

Those suspects are described as between 16 and 19 years old, about 5-feet, 9-inches tall and 125 to 150 pounds.

About 30 minutes later, police said they were called to Benton and Union streets, where an 18-year-old man told them someone in a vehicle following him on eastbound Benton fired several shots into his vehicle. While attempting to get away, the man ran the stop sign at Union and collided with a minivan headed south and driven by a 48-year-old woman. The crash sent his vehicle into two other parked vehicles. A 13-year-old traveling with the man suffered minor bumps and scrapes.

Nobody was injured by gunfire in either shooting. Police say both shootings may be gang-related, but they don't believe the shootings are connected.
