Join Wine Down Wednesdays in East Dundee
Stormy weather caused last month's event to be canceled, but French wines are ready to be uncorked for the July 20 installment of Wine Down Wednesdays from 6 to 10 p.m. at East Dundee's Depot, 319 N. River St.
Sponsored by Artisticology and Payroll Vault, Wine Down Wednesdays offers a chance for visitors to sample wines; shop the wares created by local artisans; listen to live music; savor small plates of food; partake in an art class; and visit with their friends and neighbors. The wines are provided by The Anvil Club and souvenir, hand-painted wineglasses will be sold on-site by Artisticology.
Red wines featured include Chateau Andron, Medoc, Bordeaux, France; Chateau d'Oupia Minervois, Languedoc, France; and Chateau Pesquie Ventoux "Les Terrasses," Rhone Valley, France.
White wines include Marc Ollivier Musadet Sevre & Maines, Loire Valley, France; Jean Maniat Macon-Charnay, Burgundy, France and Emile Beyer Pinot Blanc, Alsace, France.
To sample wines, individuals must be 21 and older and purchase a $1 wristband from the Dundee Foundation. Wines are sold as part of a sampling; by the glass or bottle - prices vary.
More than a dozen artisans will be on hand selling their handcrafted works of art. Budding artists will be able to create their own oil on canvas in one sitting at classes offered on-site by Artisticology from 7 to 9 p.m. Reservations are encouraged and a fee applies. Randy Walker will provide the evening's entertainment with music from James Taylor, the Eagles, America, Jimmy Buffet and more.
"This is the third year we're offering Wine Down Wednesdays and it's become one of our most popular events." said East Dundee Village President Lael Miller.
"It's another reason for residents and visitors to come out and explore our newly renovated downtown business district. Even longtime residents are surprised with the number of new businesses that have opened down here."
Upcoming events
• Wine Down Wednesdays will highlight three white wines and three red wines from a specific region as follows: July 20, France; Aug. 17, America; and Sept. 23, Germany and Austria.
• Sizzlin' Summer Events: Each week throughout the summer months, The Depot hosts events: Motor Mondays, Tail Waggin' Tuesdays, Wine Down Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays.
In addition, The Depot Market is held 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday, and the Farmers Market is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays. Monthly Lunch in the Park and Concerts in the Park are held during the months of July and August at various locations throughout Dundee.
