Allstate Arena to get new dasher boards

Rosemont's Allstate Arena will be getting new spring-loaded dasher boards around its ice surface that will better absorb the blow of hockey players completing their checks, village officials said.

The village board last week accepted a $285,000 proposal for the prefabricated boards from Athletica Sport Systems, based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

The old boards will be replaced and sold after arena staff makes sure the new ones work, said Pat Nagle, the arena's executive director.
