Bulls advance to summer semis

The Bulls improved to 5-0 at the Las Vegas summer league by beating Washington 88-85 on Saturday. The Bulls advanced to the tournament semifinals for the first time and will face either Cleveland or Brooklyn on Sunday.

Second-year forward Bobby Portis led the Bulls with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Rookie Denzel Valentine added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while point guard Jerian Grant dished out 8 assists. Guard Spencer Dinwiddie finished with 11 points.

The Bulls built an 81-69 lead with six minutes remaining, then hung on. A 3-pointer by Washington's Jarell Eddie cut the lead to 86-85 with 8.7 seconds left. Valentine knocked down a pair of free throws and Eddie missed a potential tying 3 in the final seconds.
