Gail Borden to celebrate South Elgin branch opening July 24

The South Elgin community is invited to the grand opening of Gail Borden Public Library's new library branch from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at 127 S. McLean Blvd.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the celebration will include live musical entertainment, a performance by the award-winning Gail Borden Book Cart Drill team, ice cream, and tours of the new branch.

The new branch will offer popular books and movies, a program room, a laptop dispensing station and children's area. It will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Approximately 4,275 square feet, about half the size of the Rakow Branch, the new branch is a condo unit within a larger building. It is in a convenient location, near a Butera Market and other stores, and its readily accessible to more than 50,000 residents in the area. The new branch is made possible with the generosity of several donors.

Gail Borden wants to particularly thank the Hoffer Family Foundation for helping to make this branch a reality.
