Free basketball camp offered to kids with epilepsy

The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, the Danny Did Foundation, Jack's Army, and Mighty Mike Simmel will host the annual free two-day "Bounce Out the Stigma" basketball camp at the Fountain View Recreation Center in Carol Stream on July 19-20. This day camp is offered at no charge to kids with epilepsy, along with their siblings and friends. Participants are between the ages of 8-17.

"Bounce Out the Stigma" campers will learn basketball skills from professional instructors, while among other participants who understand exactly what having epilepsy means. While they have the opportunity to learn what it takes to play basketball, they will also be able to socialize and interact with peers in an environment where epilepsy is the norm, and not the exception.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago is an Illinois nonprofit organization serving 43 counties, offering counseling, advocacy, and educational services to people with epilepsy, their families, and the communities in which they live. Its mission is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.
