DeWyze performing at Lisle scholarship fundraiser

"American Idol" winner Lee DeWyze will perform during a fundraiser Saturday, July 16, in Lisle to help raise money for scholarships for students who otherwise may not be able to afford college.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at Basecamp Pub, 5750 Lakeside Drive, and supports ChadEffect of Chicagoland, a nonprofit group founded in honor of Bolingbrook college student Chad Cooke, who died unexpectedly while playing basketball in December 2014.

The fundraiser, called Inspiring Hope, will be emceed by WGN morning radio host Steve Cochran. DeWyze, a Mount Prospect resident, won the ninth season of "Idol."
