Bob Odenkirk, Melissa McCarthy among Emmy nominees with suburban ties

The Emmys sent plenty of love to stars and others with local ties when nominations were announced Thursday morning. Among those getting a nod were:

• Bob Odenkirk, former resident of Naperville. Lead actor in a drama series for his title role in "Better Call Saul."

• Melissa McCarthy, a native of Plainfield. Guest actress in a comedy for hosting "Saturday Night Live."

• Lili Taylor, a native of Glencoe. Lead actress in a TV movie or limited series for "American Crime."

• Matt Walsh, a former resident of Darien. Supporting actor in a comedy for "Veep."

• Julia Louis-Dreyfus, attended Northwestern University in Evanston. Lead actress in a comedy for "Veep."

• Anna Chlumsky, formerly of Broadview. Supporting actress in a comedy for "Veep."

• Laurie Metcalf, a native of Carbondale, Illinois, and charter member of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre. Lead actress in a comedy for "Getting On," guest actress in a comedy for "The Big Bang Theory" and guest actress in a drama for "Horace and Pete."

• Bob Newhart, a native of Oak Park. Guest actor in a comedy for "The Big Bang Theory."

• D.B. Weiss, formerly of Highland Park. Writing for a drama series for "Game of Thrones."

• Jane Lynch, formerly of Dolton. Host of a reality or reality-competition program for "Hollywood Game Night."
