Sign up for recreational triathlon with MCCD

Grab a friend or two for McHenry County Conservation District's Glacial Park Team Challenge, a non-competitive biking, canoeing and off-trail hiking adventure, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at North Branch Conservation Area, 11500 North Keystone Road, Richmond.

Teams must be a minimum of two in this non-competitive recreational triathlon that covers 14 miles by bike, five miles hiking and seven miles paddling.

Start at the North Branch Conservation Area with a breakfast and information on the ecosystems you'll venture through during the event. Participants must provide their own bikes, but canoeing equipment will be provided. Refreshment and snack stands will be available along the course with adult refreshments at the end. All participants receive a Glacial Park Challenge hat to remember this momentous day. Information packets available after registration is processed.

Registration and fee is required by Sunday, July 17. Program for adults, age 14 and older, is $50 for county residents and $63 for nonresidents. Register online at www.MCCDistrict.org, walk-in at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake, or drop off only at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.
