Suburban communities will be represented in Dallas as a show of support for slain officers and their families as services for them continue this morning. Police officers from Mundelein, Wauconda, Waukegan and Elgin are among those who will be in Dallas for services of the officers slain last week in the line of duty by a sniper. Full story

Naperville woman dies in Book Road crash
A crash on Book Road near Naperville claimed the life of 66-year-old Linda Engel of Naperville, authorities said yesterday. The Monday crash in an unincorporated area between 75th and 83rd streets injured two other people and required the road to be shut down for more than three hours. Full story
Car vs. motorcycle in Naperville sends two to hospital
A crash involving two cars and a motorcycle sent two people to the hospital and had the intersection Naper Boulevard and Chicago Avenue shut down in all four directions for hours yesterday afternoon in Naperville, authorities said. The crash occurred about 2:15 p.m. and caused life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Steve Schindlbeck said. Full story
Wheaton postal worker taken to hospital after hornet attack
A postal worker was sent to the hospital after being attacked by hornets in Wheaton. The female worker was delivering mail on the 900 block of Dartmouth Drive when she apparently passed near a hornet nest that recently had been dislodged from a tree. She was stung dozens of times. Full story
Bob Mariano to retire as CEO in September
Roundy's CEO Bob Mariano, the former Dominick's deli worker who went on to launch Mariano's grocery stores, will retire on Sept. 1, it was announced yesterday. Mariano, 66, of Inverness, does not plan to leave completely. The grocery industry veteran will stay on as a strategic adviser for the Roundy's side of the company for a couple of years. Full story.
