Investigation continues into three-car Ingleside crash

Two people were injured after a 2012 Chevy Impala hit two vehicles on Route 134/Big Hollow Road in Ingleside early Wednesday, authorities said.

Lake County Sheriff's Detective Christopher Covelli said the westbound Impala, driven by a 50-year-old Wauconda man, veered off Big Hollow Road at 6:34 a.m. near Park Street.

The driver of the Impala tried to turn back onto the roadway but hit a 2001 Dodge Neon driven by a 31-year-old Round Lake Park man, and a 2006 Nissan Sentra driven by a 28-year-old man from Wonder Lake, Covelli said. The Dodge and Nissan were heading east when the accident occurred.

The driver of the Impala and the driver of the Neon were taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry with serious but injuries that were not life-threatening, Covelli said.

No citations have been issued, he said, and the crash remains under investigation by Lake County Sheriff Technical Crash Investigation Unit. Authorities are still trying to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, he said.

The accident forced the closure of Big Hollow Road between Park Street and Lake View Court for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, Covelli said. The road reopened about 9:10 a.m., he said.
