Letter: Frontier Days needs to find a new home

An open letter to the organizers of Frontier Days and the Village of Arlington Heights:

You have outstayed your welcome. When my parents moved to this neighborhood in 1985, you were not what you are now. As the years to by you have grown into a full-fledged attraction that people from all over the metro area flock to.

Every year my street becomes a one-way so people have a place to park. I deal with garbage left on my sidewalk and front yard; inconsiderate imbeciles who think it's OK to block part of my driveway; and the overall rude behavior exhibited by visitors as they walk back to their cars at midnight.

I am tired of you deciding if I can enjoy my patio and backyard on a nice day (I can't when all I hear is screams and loud music); if I can open my windows to let the fresh summer air in; and I am beyond annoyed by you dictating when I can go to sleep.

You don't know anything about me. You don't know if I have plans in the morning that require me to wake up early. Yet somehow you get away with blasting loud music until 11:45 p.m. which keeps me awake. And then I have to listen as the inebriated disperse and loudly walk back to their cars.

You have grown far too large to still be a "neighborhood festival." It is time for you to leave this neighborhood and find a better home. We have a really great racetrack, with a huge parking lot. Or maybe you could go to any one of the large parks in this village that actually offers parking? Whatever it is, it needs to be something that is far away from Recreation Park.

It is time for Frontier Days to find a new home.
