19th Annual Rotary Race for Charity 5K Run and 3K Walk

The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods is soliciting local charities who would like to take part in its annual Rotary Race for Charity 5K Run and 3K Walk, scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2016. Interested charities should visit the club's website at: www.rotaryrace.org.

This is the 19th year that the Rotary Club has partnered with local nonprofit organizations to raise money and awareness for their worthy causes, raising more than $1.3 million. The event was previously known as the Long Grove Heritage 5K Run and 3K Walk. The name is being changed this year to better reflect the true nature of the event. This is the group's largest fundraising event of the year.

Each charity pays a nominal fee up front, per runner/walker. In return the Rotary Club handles all the logistics for the race, including course certification and management, timing and prizes. Participants receive a T-shirt, a pancake and Chick-fil-A biscuit breakfast, and a personalized webpage for fundraising. Charities can then focus on recruiting participants and on fundraising for their cause. Each charity is provided a customized race brochure to attract participants and sponsors, and an online webpage for registering their participants and managing their donations. Last year, the event had nearly 1,000 runners.

The charities already signed up for 2016 include: the Anthony James Brust Memorial Foundation, Barb's Precious Rescue and Adoption Center, Center for Deafness, Christopher Steele Foundation, Exodus World Service, the Michael P. Savoca Memorial Foundation, Mother's Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, PADS Lake County, and the Riverside Foundation.

The major sponsors on board to date include: JTEKT/Koyo/TOYODA, Chick-fil-A / Kildeer, McGinty Bros. Inc., Sunset Foods, Huber Financial Advisors, Long Grove Living Magazine, Underwood Innovations, Runners High and Ri, and the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association . Additional sponsorships are still available for the event.
