Kick-A-Thon 2016 begins car wash Sunday

The St. Charles North and East Drill teams have officially kicked off the 2016 Kick-A-Thon season with a recent event hosted at St. Charles East High School. Members of both dance teams, along with coaches, parents, and beneficiary organizations spent the evening reminding each other how and why the fundraiser began, as well as encouraging one another of the importance in continuing to raise funds to help in the local fight against cancer.

Dance team members will be accepting donations throughout the summer and fall to help support the Fox Valley Chapter of the American Cancer Society, LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, and Fox Valley Food for Health.

The first event will be on Sunday, July 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McDowell Remodeling, where St. Charles East Drill Team members will be hosting their annual car wash to benefit the cause.

Any and all donations are appreciated with a minimum donation of $6 for cars and $10 for trucks and SUVs.

Stop by at 521 W. Main St. in St. Charles to help the girls in their efforts to raise money for Kick-A-Thon 2016. Watch for other events and collections in July and August at various local businesses including the Blue Goose Supermarket, Walmart in St. Charles, and Jewel in St. Charles and South Elgin.

Kick-A-Thon also will be hosting various restaurant nights, including the soon-to-open Potbelly sandwich shop on East Main Street in St. Charles. As part of the company's "Oven Warming Event" on Monday, July 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., supporters will receive a sandwich, chips and drink for a $5 minimum donation per person with flyer, and all proceeds benefit the dance team fundraiser.
