St. Charles woman killed in 4-vehicle crash near Campton Hills

A St. Charles woman was killed and two other people were injured in a 4-car crash Thursday afternoon near Campton Hills.

Janice Willenborg, 74, was driving a Toyota Highlander east on Route 64 near Peck Road about 3:45 p.m. when she stopped to allow a vehicle two cars in front of her to turn right onto Cibis Road, officials said.

Willenborg's car was rear-ended by a Chevy Silverado, driven by Mark Vogtman, 36, of Sugar Grove, and pushed into westbound traffic, where she was hit by an oncoming semi truck, according to Lt. Patrick Gengler of the Kane County sheriff's office.

Willenborg was taken to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the semi truck, Robert Duff, 55, of Rockdale, and the driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander just in front of Willenborg's, Chloe White, 20, of Elgin, both were also taken to Delnor with minor injuries, Gengler said. Vogtman was not hurt.

Gengler said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and so far, no citations have been issued.

Route 64 between Peck and Arbor Creek roads was closed until about 7 p.m. Thursday while the crash was being investigated.
