Women in manufacturing forum July 13 at Harper

A group of women who have found success in the field of manufacturing will share their stories at an upcoming forum hosted by the Wheeling/Prospect Heights Area Chamber of Commerce.

"Women in Manufacturing" will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Harper College Learning and Career Center, 1375 S. Wolf Road in Prospect Heights. Mary Beth Ottinger, dean of career and technical programs at Harper, will moderate the event.

The forum will highlight career opportunities and the wide spectrum of available employment options; the field's competitive wages; incentive programs for small business owners; necessary skills to thrive in a manufacturing environment; and Harper's programs. Attendees also will have an opportunity to network with area business and civic leaders.

Panelists include Patty Tournai, general manager at Better Bilt Products Inc.; Karen Silverberg, human resources director at Argon Medical Devices; Pam McDonough, CEO and president at NORBIC and the Alliance for Industry and Manufacturing; Cassandra Haupers, vice president at Swiss Precision Machining Inc.

Admission is free for college and high school guests, $10 for WPH Chamber members and $15 for others. Register by Monday, July 11, at wphchamber.com.
