Libertyville house fire causes 'sizable amount of damage'

A house fire on the 500 block of Fair Hill Road in Libertyville caused a "sizable amount of damage" but didn't cause any injuries Tuesday afternoon, said Libertyville Assistant Fire Chief Bob Key.

Firefighters responded to the fire around 3 p.m., and nine other neighboring departments helped out.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Key said it appeared to have started in the second-floor master bedroom.

"It burned pretty well from the inside out," Key said.

Residents were not home at the time, Key said, and they will be looking for a new place to stay Tuesday night.

Crews remained on the scene investigating Tuesday evening and will likely have a better damage estimate and cause of the fire Wednesday, Key said.
