Ex-Rutgers football player gets jail, probation after fight

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - A former Rutgers University football player has been sentenced to three days in jail after pleading guilty to his role in a fight that left a man with a broken jaw.

Delon Stephenson was sentenced Friday to three days in jail and three years of probation. He also was ordered to be evaluated for anger management issues.

He pleaded guilty to third-degree aggravated assault in May for his role in a fight that started over a parking space.

He was one of seven former Rutgers football players charged in a string of violent incidents last year.

Three other co-defendants were allowed to enter a pre-trial intervention program because of Stephenson's guilty plea.
