Palatine Native Awarded Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi has awarded a $5,000 fellowship for graduate study to recent Illinois Wesleyan University graduate Julia Savich '16 of Palatine.

A physics major at Illinois Wesleyan University, Savich will enter the master's program in Engineering Design Innovation at Northwestern University this fall. She graduated summa cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan University. Savich also received the Phi Kappa Phi Award recognizing an outstanding senior student member with exceptional promise for graduate or professional study.

Phi Kappa Phi awards only 51 fellowships of $5,000 each year to members entering the first year of graduate or professional study. Fellowships are presented based on applicants' academics; service and leadership activities; graduate prospects; personal statement; and letters of recommendation. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective multidisciplinary collegiate honor society with chapters at more than 300 campuses.

Illinois Wesleyan University is a nationally ranked independent institution of 1,850 undergraduate students.
