Arkansas State to get new turf after May flooding

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State will get new turf on its football field after floodwaters damaged the field in May.

Arkansas State spokesman Bill Smith tells Jonesboro television station KAIT (http://bit.ly/298O38S ) that the field was deemed a total loss by insurers because of the flood damage. Smith says the flooding caused part of the field to separate, making it hazardous for players.

Smith says insurance will cover the replacement.

Arkansas State got the turf field in 2009 but it was replaced a year later because of drainage problems.
