Two men injured in rollover crash in Wauconda

Two men were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville Wednesday morning after a rollover crash on Route 12 in Wauconda.

A white Ford work van was traveling north on Route 12 at 7:44 a.m. near a semitrailer truck when a Honda was merging onto Route 12 from Route 176. The truck and van attempted to get out of the merging Honda's way when the van hit some gravel, hit the truck, went through the median and rolled over into the southbound lanes, said Wauconda police Sgt. John Thibault.

Emergency crews extricated the first man at 7:54 a.m. from the van and the second man at 8 a.m. Both were taken immediately to Condell, said acting Batallion Chief Devin Mueller of the Wauconda Fire District.

The work van, which had several tools in it, sustained “significant damage,” Mueller said.

The driver of the semitrailer truck and the Honda were not injured, Thibault said. Police have not yet issued citations.
