Forums planned on Dist. 207 schedule changes

Maine Township High School District 207 will host informational meetings at its three schools next month to discuss a proposed hybrid bell schedule that could be implemented as early as the 2018-2019 school year.

Superintendent Ken Wallace and building principals will explain the schedule during sessions at Maine South on July 19, Maine East on July 20, and Maine West on July 21. All meetings begin at 6 p.m., and include the opportunity for Q&A.

The Maine Teachers Association has opposed the schedule changes, which would cut science class times by more than 100 minutes per week. But administrators say most classes would increase by 17 minutes each week. The school board has the final say on any schedule changes.
