PaleoJoe guides trip back in time in Vernon Hills

Joseph Kchodl of Midland, Michigan, aka PaleoJoe, took kids back in time to the days of the dinosaurs during a program Wednesday at the Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills.

Dressed as a digger in a wide-brimmed hat, boots and a vest, Kchodl began with a brief introduction on what a paleontologist does, what fossils are and how they form.

Kchodl also talked about fossils in the Midwest and the how the Ice Age killed the dinosaurs.

Then Kchodl moved on to the dinosaurs, showing teeth and skulls of prehistoric creatures.

At the end of the program, kids had a chance to put on dinosaur puppets as he described the dinosaur's traits.
