Enjoy free concerts at Schaumburg's Town Square on Monday nights

Love music? Swing, rock, Latin, folk and much more will fill the air in Schaumburg's Town Square on Monday nights this summer.

The Schaumburg Township District Library has a diverse lineup of free concerts that will satisfy a variety of musical fancies. All ages are welcome to set up lawn chairs or lay down blankets and bring snacks and beverages. No pets, please, for the safety and comfort of your fellow audience members.

There will not be a concert on July 4, because the library is closed for the holiday, but be sure to come from 6:45-8:15 p.m., on Tuesday, July 5, for classic country hits performed by Suburban Cowboys. Arrive early for free treats from Whole Foods Market Schaumburg. Next up, on Monday, July 11, all are invited to experience Rica Obsesion, an 11-piece Latin band that will have you tapping your feet or jumping up to dance. A week later, on July 18, Arranmore will entertain with it's unique selection of Celtic and American folk music. If you love swing and jazz, plant your folding chair in Town Square on Monday, July 25, where Petra's Recession Seven will perform from 6:45-8:15 p.m.

The library will kick off its August concerts with Piano Man, from 6:45-8:15 p.m., Monday, Aug. 1. Anyone who loves the music of Billy Joel and Elton John won't want to miss these spot-on renditions of their greatest hits. Arrive early for free treats from Whole Foods Market Schaumburg.

In addition to concerts, the library will present other types of family entertainment during the summer. Andy Head, the wonderful, wacky juggler, will fill Town Square with nonstop fun and laughter from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, June 30. Jim Gill's Family Room Tour will have families clapping, singing and dancing along with this award-winning musician and author from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, July 14. A week later, The Boogers will present nursery rhymes and punk rock from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, July 21.

The library will conclude its summer shows with Sunset Yoga for all ages from 6:45-7:45 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3. Take a moment to relax and enjoy outdoor yoga by the tranquil Town Square pond. Please bring your own yoga mat or towel.
