Join 19th annual 'Fourth of July American Dialogue'

In the true spirit of democracy and open communication, the 19th annual "Fourth of July American Dialogue" is set for 8 a.m. Monday, July 4. The event will take place in the city council chambers, 100 N. Island Ave. in Batavia.

All members of the Batavia community and its neighbors are invited to share their hopes and dreams for the community, nation and the world. There is no cost and reservations are not required.

Event organizer Roger Breisch asks, "With 364 other days to discuss and debate the issues of the day, doesn't it make sense to reserve one day each year to have a deep conversation about our journey both locally and globally?"

Breisch encourages all segments of the community - from the very young to the very old - to come together to discover the larger questions that all in society share.

"This is a great way to begin celebrating our nation's 240th birthday," Breisch concludes.

Plans call for a gathering with coffee and bagels from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed by the "American Dialogue" until about 10:30 a.m.
