Shoppers find vintage furniture, deals at Aurora garage sale

Suburban bargain hunters probably have to drive around neighborhoods if they want to find a summer garage sale and more than a few good markdowns.

But organizers behind a communitywide sale in Aurora put all the deals in one convenient spot Saturday - the parking lot of the Fox Valley Park District's Prisco Community Center.

John Hendricks, former owner of Big Woods Restoration near Aurora, was one of more than a dozen vendors who offered items during the sale Saturday. For Hendricks, the event was an opportunity to sell some 1800s-era vintage furniture.

"I'm here getting rid of excess furniture that has been in the garage forever," the Aurora man said.

Proceeds from fees to reserve spaces and tables at the sale supported the park district's Creative Play Preschool.
