Geneva's Swedish Days belongs to the kids

It might be known as "The Granddaddy of Illinois Festivals," but Geneva's Swedish Days belonged to the kids Friday afternoon.

It was Kids Day all day, with everything from sports coaches getting dunked, to games on the Third Street courthouse lawn. Sunset Dancers, Geneva Gymnastics and Geneva Angels Cheerleading also performed.

The Kids Day Parade had younger children take part in several categories: Swedish Costumes, Decorated Bikes and Trikes, Olympic Sports, "Star Wars" and Patriotic.

The 67th annual fest continues Saturday and Sunday in and around downtown.

The free entertainment includes the "Geneva's Got Talent" finals at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the Central Stage with $1,000 going to the winner. One of Sunday's highlights is the parade, one of the area's largest, stepping off at 1 p.m. from Center Street and Anderson Boulevard before heading east down State Street.
