New festival debuts in Long Grove

Long Grove Summer Fest debuted Friday, a revamped version of the popular Strawberry Fest. The new festival features a broader array of summer fruits and food, bands, vendors and family activities than its predecessor. And the event will include a carnival, the first in the historic downtown.

The fest includes three stages featuring live music, a Kid's Zone, live karaoke on Sunday and strawberry pie-eating competitions Saturday and Sunday.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 a day, with kids 12 and under free. More information, including where to park, is at visitlonggrove.com
