Barb's Precious Rescue and Adoption Center Open House

On Sunday, July 10th, volunteers at Barb's Precious Rescue and Adoption Center (BPRAC), Palatine, will be hosting their third annual Open House. This is an outstanding opportunity for members of the community to stop by and see all of the great volunteer work going on at the cat rescue. Those who have previously adopted from the rescue are also encouraged to stop by. Barb's is always happy to hear how their former residents are doing in their new forever homes.

The Open House will take place from 11 AM to 3 PM. There will be food, fun, and escorted rescue tours. You can meet all of our feline residents still in need of homes. We will also be unveiling our shelter expansion plans. Jointo share in the excitement.

Barb's Precious Rescue founder, Barb Weber, will be on hand for the event. She will provide guests an update on the rescue. She is pleased to report that BPRAC has found permanent homes for more than 300 cats since its founding one and one-half years ago.

Barb's is in the final stages of trying to raise money to cover medical care for a very special cat named Crystal. Crystal was brought to the rescue by a good Samaritan several weeks ago. The kitten had been severely injured, sustaining fractures and broken bones in three of its legs. Despite its predicament in life, this little kitten exhibited quite a resilient attitude. Barb and her volunteers sprang into action, getting estimates for the needed medical care, and starting up a fundraising campaign via their website and Facebook. In just three short weeks, the local community came together and raised $2,710 towards the goal of $3,000 for this sweet little kittens medical needs.

A very generous charitable organization even stepped up with a $500 matching grant. The Phoenix Fund has been set up for the purpose of helping to pay for life-saving medical care for cats whose owners or shelters need help paying those expenses. Crystal will be the Phoenix Fund's first recipient.

If you would still like to help us meet the goal of $3,000 to cover Crystal's care, please donate to: http://barbspreciousrescue.org/how-you-can-help.html or you may mail a check to: Barb's Precious Rescue Fundraiser for Crystal, 313 N Quentin Rd, Palatine, IL 60067. Crystal has now completed her surgery. and is recovering. She's running and playing as if nothing ever happened. A short video of the kitten is available on Barb's Facebook page.
