Man shot, killed by Mississippi authorities in standoff

WALLS, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi authorities say law enforcement shot and killed a Chicago fugitive following a standoff in a bank parking lot.

DeSoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco tells The Commercial Appeal of Memphis (http://bit.ly/28OJw65 ) that officers shot Quencezola Maurice Splunge after he turned his gun on them and opened fire. It happened around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Rasco says Splunge tried to get a driver's license at a nearby Department of Motor Vehicle office. When his information was plugged into the system, it showed he was wanted in Chicago for sexual battery and was considered armed and dangerous.

Rasco says Splunge fled the office and led police on a chase that ended at the Citizens Bank & Trust in Walls where a standoff lasted for more than an hour before the deadly shooting occurred.
