Aurora police: Getaway driver charged in February convenience store heist

A 46-year-old Montgomery woman has been charged as the getaway driver in connection with the February armed robbery of a 7-Eleven on Aurora's far South East Side.

Jacqueline M. McKinney, of the 100 block of Rocky Way, Montgomery, is being held in Will County jail, charged with robbery.

The men alleged to be her accomplices - Dangelo Williams, 20, of the 700 block of Liberty Street, and Darius Shaquille Totton, 22, of the 600 block of Serendipity Drive, both in Aurora - each have been charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.

Authorities say McKinney drove Williams and Totton to a subdivision just behind the convenience store on the 2200 block of South Eola Road at 11:35 p.m. on Feb. 12.

The two men, wearing masks, entered the business and approached a 45-year-old male clerk.

Totten, who was armed with a handgun, and Williams then battered the clerk and demanded money, police said. While fleeing the store after grabbing cash and cigarettes worth an undisclosed amount of money, police said, Williams punched a 20-year-old Aurora man who had entered the business. The two then ran to McKinney's vehicle and the trio fled the scene.

The store employee was treated and released at an Aurora hospital.

Police said McKinney's name surfaced as possibly being involved shortly after Aurora police posted surveillance photos of the crime Feb. 17 on their Facebook page.

Williams was arrested on March 4 and Totten on June 1. McKinney turned herself in to Aurora police Wednesday afternoon.

"Thanks to a tip provided by a citizen in-the-know, we were able to advance an investigation into a violent crime and provide justice to two victims," Aurora Chief of Police Kristen Ziman said in a written statement. "These charges also result from the tireless efforts expended by our officers and investigators and their dedication to keeping Aurora safe".

McKinney is awaiting a bail hearing.
