Could Cubs, Trump triumph in same year?

A person is unlikely to see one miracle in their lifetime, much less two. But 2016 is no ordinary year and the possibility exists that we will all be viewing multiple phenomena before next New Year's Eve.

This fall, in the span of a month, we could witness a Chicago Cub World Series and the election (gulp) of Donald J Trump. Can you imagine?

Generations of Cub fans have come and gone without seeing so much as one World Series game played at venerable Wrigley Field; great-grandpa may have attended one but certainly none of his offspring. But this, my friend, may very well be that "wait 'til next year" moment that was prophesied by Nostradamus way back when?

As for the Trumpster - even the late, great, medieval soothsayer didn't see that one coming. The former court jester-turned-politician slithered through the weeds for months before finally emerging as the presumptive nominee of a hapless, and hopelessly, outdated party, terms previously reserved for past Cub teams.

If only the media would have been as diligent in covering Trump as Cub management was in acquiring talented players, the Donald would have been just another fading reality star and not the potential leader of the free world (gulp).

So buckle up, everyone. This year will be bumpy, Trumpy and possibly miraculous.
