Sign up for kids' fun races at Intelligentsia Cup cycling event

Youth, age 3-9, are invited to sign up for the kids' fun races during the West Dundee River Challenge on Wednesday, July 20. It is part of the all-day Intelligentsia Cup cycling event in the village.

The racing events begin at 10 a.m. with the Juniors category race and continues throughout the day with the Pro Women Cat 1/2 starting at 4:50 p.m. and the Pro Men Cat 1/2 starting at 6:30 p.m.

The kids races will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Entry is free but parents must register their kids in advance at Main Street Bicycles, 39 E. Main St. in Carpentersville starting on Saturday, July 16.

Each kid who participates will receive a small medal and a free kid's scoop at Van's Frozen Custard & Burgers in East Dundee. Each child who participates must wear a helmet.

The course for the all-day Intelligentsia Cup will start and finish at Grafelman Park, Fourth and Washington streets. The course will follow Washington Street west to Sixth Street, then north to Geneva Street, east to Lincoln Avenue, returning back along Washington Street to Grafelman Park.

There will be a Rear Expo Area along First and Second streets. Racer parking will be offered at Spring Hill Mall.
