Bring your pets along for shelter's 'Walk of Love' July 16

Put on your walking shoes, leash up your canine companion and head out to Blue Star Memorial Forest Preserve in Glenview at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, for Heartland Animal Shelter's 10th annual Walk of Love.

The Walk of Love is a leisurely 2K stroll, followed by breakfast, prizes, puppy pools, vendors, photos and more. Proceeds from the Walk of Love allow Heartland Animal Shelter to rescue hundreds of homeless dogs and cats and provide medical care, socialization, training and a secure environment while they wait for their homes.

Blue Star Memorial Forest Preserve is located at 701 E. Lake Ave., Glenview. Everyone is welcome with or without a dog.

The Walk of Love registration fee is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Families (up to four people) are $75 in advance and $80 at the door. Animal lovers can help raise money for the event by joining Heartland's Furry Love 2016 Team.
