Roselle house severely damaged in fire

Nine fire departments helped bring under control a house fire on the 600 block of Waterford Court in Roselle.

Roselle Fire Marshal Robert Morris said only a dog was at home when the fire occurred, shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday. The dog was rescued almost immediately as crews arrived.

“The fire was shooting out the back of the house and we could see the heavy smoke, which we call the header, rolling in the sky as we were en route,” Morris said. “I wouldn't say the house is destroyed but the owners are going to need a lot of remodeling, painting and restoration, which could take several months.”

Investigators are still at the scene and have not yet determined what sparked the blaze.
