Heroin Awareness Streamwood holding walk Saturday

Heroin Awareness Streamwood is hosting its 2nd annual Walk For Wellness 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at St. John's Church, 502 S. Park Blvd., to promote drug awareness, as well as a safer, drug-free community. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge. A limited supply of free items such as anti-drug bumper stickers and bracelets, and business cards with warning signs of drug use will be distributed.

The group will be escorted down Park Boulevard by Streamwood DARE officer Matt Stasny. The 1.5 mile walk will continue to Irving Park Road and then back to the church.

The walk was created by Streamwood resident Diane Kriescher in response to the loss of young lives. She also has launched a Facebook page, Heroin Awareness Streamwood, that has 3,000 followers. For information, email heroinawarenessstreamwood@gmail.com.
