Area Attorney Launches New Podcast Series

James Doerr, a criminal defense attorney with more than two decades of experience, has launched a new podcast series, "Liberty and the Law". Doerr is part of the Criminal Defense practice group at Lavelle Law in Palatine.

'The criminal defense system is complex and often misunderstood," said Doerr. "Much of the public's knowledge comes from headlines and brief news clips. With 'Liberty and the Law" we will have more time to delve into the many factors that are a part of criminal defense and our legal process."

Doerr has been recognized throughout the legal industry for his work. In 2015, he was named a member of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys (AAPDA) and is a published appellate lawyer. His practice has been enhanced by successfully completing training with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing program.

"What makes our legal system so unique is the opportunity it provides for every defendant to be represented against charges," said Doerr. "Everyone is entitled to a fair trial and due process. We will look at how that actually occurs on the podcasts."

"Liberty and the Law" will initially be recorded each month. Episodes will be available on www.lavellelaw.com, on iTunes and at www.blogtalkradio.com. Doerr encourages questions and input from the audience. "I would be particularly pleased to address topics and questions that listeners may have. They can submit directly to me at jdoerr@lavellelaw.com."

Doerr is no stranger to podcasts as he has been a regular contributor to the Lavelle Law series "Chicago's Legal Latte" for several years. His past discussion are archived at www.lavellelaw,com. "We find that we have so many interested parties from people with a general interest in the law to individuals with questions about specific issues they are facing," Doerr said. "In addition, we cover topics that may be of interest to college and law school students and I hope to bring that same depth to "Liberty and the Law."

After receiving his B.A. in Political Science from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, Doerr pursued and received his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, which has subsequently established an association with Western Michigan University. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1994.
