15 years prison for 2013 Aurora cocaine bust

An Aurora man recently was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug charges after an arrest in November 2013 in which he was caught with two kilograms of cocaine.

Rigoberto Ayala Villareal, 39, of the 900 block of Hawkes Avenue, was sentenced last week by Kane County Judge John Barsanti.

Villareal pleaded guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in April 2016, according to court records.

Villareal was arrested Nov. 1, 2013, in Aurora, and "admitted he was delivering over two kilograms of cocaine to someone and was going to collect payment," according to court records.

Villareal's sentence also includes a drug fine of $60,000, as well as $3,895 in court costs and fees.

According to court records, Villareal's crime carried a prison term of between 15 and 60 years.

Villareal, who did not have a previous criminal record, pleaded guilty without agreeing with prosecutors beforehand on a prison sentence. His "cold plea" essentially left sentencing to Barsanti.

Villareal, a father of two who did residential repairs and remodeling up until his arrest, must serve 75 percent of his sentence, or a little more than 11 years. He also gets credit for 32 months in Kane County jail.
