Trump careens from one outrageous stance to the next, thereby controlling the news cycle.
However, I think he's looking for an escape hatch because he knows he is neither qualified nor suited for the most demanding and harrowing job in the world.
What started as a game to win over rivals has now become a strategy to escape.
