No property tax relief from Franks

In an answer to a 1998 election survey, Jack Franks' legislative priority was: "Fundamentally changing the way we fund our schools away from the property tax base to a state income tax base. McHenry County residents pay the highest per capita property tax in the state of Illinois. Yet for every dollar we send down to Springfield for our state income tax, we only get pennies back. I want the state to pay its fair share for education in McHenry County and give property owners a break. I am especially concerned that senior citizens on a fixed income will lose their homes due to our increasing property taxes."

Eighteen years later and McHenry County taxpayers are still waiting for meaningful property tax relief. What else have Jack Franks and Springfield Democrats failed to pass? A balanced budget. Reforms to protect property tax payers. Reforms to our pension systems. Reforms to grow the economy. Reforms to our political system. Stunning failure by Democrats including Jack Franks.

We do not need failure in McHenry County. Taxpayers must vote Franks out of the 63rd District seat and deny him the McHenry County Board Chair position in November.
