Bulls trade Bairstow for Detroit point guard Dinwiddie

The Bulls executed a trade Friday, sending third-year center Cameron Bairstow to Detroit for point guard Spencer Dinwiddie.

Both players have non-guaranteed contracts for next season.

The 6-foot-6 Dinwiddie hasn't done much during his two NBA seasons, but he has been impressive against the Bulls.

During his rookie season, Dinwiddie had games of 12 points and 9 assists, then 10 points and 10 assists against the Bulls.

The former University of Colorado star appeared in just 12 games last season for the Pistons, along with 13 games for the D-League's Grand Rapids Drive.

Bairstow, a second-round pick in 2014, appeared in 36 games over two seasons for the Bulls.

He showed some promise in summer league, but after being outplayed late last season by Cristiano Felicio, it seemed clear the Australia native didn't have a future with the Bulls.

With the backup point guard slot unsettled, the Bulls figure to at least take a good look at Dinwiddie during training camp.

The Southern California native was the 38th overall pick of the 2014 draft, after playing three years in college.

The Bulls own the No. 14 pick in next Thursday's NBA Draft. Free-agency begins on July 1.
