Madrona Village in neighborhood profile

Madrona Village offers a rural ambience near forest preserves, recreation along the Chain O' Lakes and excellent schools.

"This part of Round Lake is pretty rural" with a lot of nature and protected lands on the outskirts of the neighborhood, said Matthew Leonard, broker associate with RE/MAX Center in Grayslake. "There are a lot of forest preserve parks and trails, and families like that. Some people move to the subdivision specifically because of the nature preserves."

Another driving force for buyers moving into Madrona Village is the elementary school in the middle of the neighborhood, Lawrence said.

Ten-year resident Lisa Colson loves singing the praises of Park School. "We have a fantastic elementary school with great teachers and students. I can't say enough about it. Kids walk there. Everyone knows each other; it's a really nice feeling. Today is the last day of school, and there are a lot of after-school parties with tons of kids."

Situated off Route 120 between Cedar Lake and Curran roads, Madrona Village features 356 single-family homes, duplexes and townhouses built by Concord Homes in the early 2000s.

Single-family homes offer eight different floor plans with 1,373 to 2,691 square feet, three to five bedrooms, two to three baths and two- or three-car garage. Homes offer all the latest amenities today's buyer wants. The neighborhood has great curb appeal with well-kept homes and attractive landscaping.

Neighborhood amenities include three wetland areas, two parks and five small lakes. And across the street sits a large park, playground and gazebo with a scenic bike trail that leads to the elementary school within the subdivision.

When Lisa and Eric Colson moved from Palatine to Madrona Village ten years ago, they heard it was an up-and-coming area and were looking for a new home for their growing family.

"If you're not a fixer-upper, it's nice to have everything brand new where all you need to do is move in," Lisa Colson said. "We were really lucky that there were a lot of young families here, and it's such a nice community where people help each other out. It has a great neighborhood feeling.

"We do a lot outside, here, because we can go on the paddle boats, and there are some restaurants on the water. It's so nice to be outside when the sun is out.

"This is also a good location for all the different activities that we like. Our subdivision isn't on a lake, but we're close to several of them. We like to go water skiing. We drive up to Lake Geneva. There's a dog park 10 minutes away. And the huge Lakewood (Forest Preserve) sled hills are great for winter activities. Whatever you want to do, everything is near here."

For local shopping, there are plenty of opportunities along Route 120; and for regional shopping, residents can head to the Gurnee Mills outlet mall or Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills.

Madrona Village sits 20 minutes from I-94, five minutes from the Metra station and just a few minutes from Walgreens, Starbucks and Snap 24-Hour Fitness. Campbell Airport is just to the east of the subdivision.

Round Lake is in the Chain O' Lakes area where many lakes and a 6,000-acre state park offer all kinds of recreation.
