Schaumburg's Summer Breeze Concert Series returns July 9 with Shining Star

The six-part Summer Breeze Concert Series, sponsored by the Schaumburg Park District and village of Schaumburg, will kick off Saturday, July 9, with a performance by the Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band Shining Star.

All the concerts in the series will take place at 7 p.m. on their respective Saturdays, on the grounds of Schaumburg's Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, 101 Schaumburg Court.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic food and beverages to the free shows.

The July 16 concert will feature Hip Pockit, a nine-piece band that performs soul, Motown and rock and pop hits.

The Neverly Brothers will play the music artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, the Beatles and Rolling Stones on July 23, while Harpeth Rising will perform folk, newgrass and rock songs Aug. 13.

Mason Rivers will play highlights of country music on Aug. 20. The series will wrap up Aug. 27, with a concert by Frank Winkler & The Symphonic Pops featuring Broadway favorites and light classics.
