Naperville cops nab suspected burglar

A 25-year-old Sycamore man has been charged with burglary after Naperville police said he tried to steal forms to access prescription medications from a psychiatrist's office — for the second time.

Police said officers responded at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday to a business on the 1900 block of McDowell Road after the owner received an alert from his video surveillance system showing a man had entered the office.

Police formed a perimeter around the business while the suspect was inside. The suspect, Samuel Flores, of the 1800 block of Cherrywood Lane, walked out of the building into the police perimeter and was taken into custody without incident.

DuPage County Assistant State's Attorney Amanda Meindl said during a bond hearing Tuesday afternoon that Flores left through the back door of Advanced Behavioral Health Services with a backpack containing a laptop, a medical book and blank prescription forms. She said he also was wanted on a warrant accusing him of burglarizing the same psychiatrist's office on Aug. 2, 2014.

Meindl said Flores was wanted on several other outstanding warrants and has a criminal history involving multiple burglaries and thefts.

Judge Joseph Bugos set Flores' bail for the two cases at $20,060.

In court, Flores said he wouldn't be able to post bail. His next court appearance was scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.
