Bartlett library kicks off summer with Fravinia concert and car show

Around 400 people enjoyed the Bartlett Public Library's "Classic Car Show" and "Fravinia Concert" on Friday, June 10, with good cruisers, good people, good music and good times.

At 5 p.m., 37 classic cars filled the parking lot for the library's first-ever car show. Car owners mingled with attendees as everyone walked around inspecting the different models from Corvettes to Chevelles to Camaros and many more.

A total of 132 people voted for their favorite car, and a majority voted for what happened to be the very first car to arrive in the lot that day. John Schuitz took home the People's Choice Award for his 1968 Chevy Chevelle. He said that he just finished working on his car the morning of the show, and that the Bartlett library was the first car show that it was entered in.

Dogfather Hot Dogs and Cupcakes for Courage were present for attendees to enjoy. And a local ice cream truck even stopped by to help cool everyone off in the summer sun.

The next Fravinia Summer Concert will be 7 p.m. Friday, July 15. The band playing is Prairie Thunder. They cover a wide variety of music from such artists as Stevie Wonder, The Eagles, The Foo Fighters, O.A.R., Bob Seger, Zac Brown Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles and many more. The Fravinia Concerts are co-sponsored by the Friends of the Bartlett Library and the Bartlett Park District.
