Join Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans' golf outing

The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans will hold its 11th annual golf outing and Texas BBQ fundraiser on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Klein Creek Golf Club in Winfield.

Eighteen holes of golf, in a team scramble format, begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. A complete Texas BBQ buffet dinner follows golf at 6 p.m.

"Since the inaugural event in 2006, the MSHV golf outing has raised close to $250,000 in support of our mission to help homeless and at-risk veterans regain self-sufficiency," said Bob Adams, MSHV co-founder and current board president. "The golf is again limited to the first 144 paid golfers, so we encourage everyone who wants to join us in August to sign up now.

"We also ask interested businesses and individuals to help sponsor our event, so that every dollar we raise can go directly to helping at-risk veterans and their families," added Adams. "There is no better way to support these heroes who have served our nation."

Golfers can register online at www.helpaveteran.org. The cost, which includes 18 holes of golf and a barbecue dinner, is $545 per foursome or $145 for an individual golfer. Discounted rates of $525 per foursome or $135 for an individual golfer are available for those signing up online and/or by Aug. 1.

A limited number of dinner-only reservations are available for $50.

Event and hole sponsorships and opportunities to donate auction and raffle items and/or to purchase raffle tickets are also available. For information, contact Lynne Rowe at (630) 871-VETS (8387) or lynne@mshv.org.
